What 1.x promises
The full rules are in the compatibility policy on GitHub. The short version: within 1.x, no API name, option, event or error code is removed or renamed, and every saved document keeps opening. New features may be added. The fabricjs-document-engine release notes announce any deprecation at least one minor release ahead.
